Well, it's Monday morning, and my system hasn't updated so I've got a little bit of time to write a journal entry.
This weekend I am happy to report my World Cup round of sixteen brackets are perfect! So far so good. With Germany, England, Argentina, and Portugal all going through!!
Which leads me to the cover of USA Today this morning. Which features Beckham's winning kick as one of the lead stories. Am I the only one that finds this funny? The lead story wasn't the Mexican loss to Argentina. And certainly there are a lot more Mexicans in this country than Englishmen. But after all these years I think we still see England as our brother, our biggest ally in the World. And thus, I have noticed that most of us Yankees are rooting for the Queen's team. Even jimbabwe24 went to cheer them on in Stuttgart.
That includes me. Of course I lived there and have had a soft spot in my heart for the team since 1998. And a crush on Michael Owen since I met him in a London club all those years ago. ( Poor baby he's injured now. I'll be happy to help nurse him back to health…)
I did a bunch of political things this weekend. I went to a Harold Ford Jr. political rally. Not only did this rally have free beer, but also more speaking from the next Senator from Tennessee. I am very committed to this campaign. I've been actively talking to people about him. Checking to make sure people are registered. Why? Because I am convinced a Democratic win and sending Harold would boost Tennessee on the American political landscape. Doing good things for what is already a wonderful place to live, and marking the cultural changes taking place here. Not to mention Ford's election would be the sixth and key victory that would hand control of the house BACK TO THE DEMOCRATS!!!
Do you hear that Tennesseans? I don't want to hear another word about "Have you heard about his family???"
Which you would prefer a loony, pettily corrupt family that doesn't reflect Harold Ford Jr. or a crazy, morally bankrupt, definitely corrupt, fear mongering, civil rights destroying, middle class killing, corporate welfare loving Republican controlled house???
Well? I'm waiting for your answer.

Speaking of all things political and Tennessee: I also went to see An Inconvenient Truth, the new Al Gore movie.
My personal conclusion: Party up people for tomorrow we are dead.
Well probably not dead if you are a strong swimmer.
But seriously folks we've got to change. You know It made me feel like Mother Theresa for taking the bus everyday. I am single handedly trying to solve the world's global warming crisis.
